Obituary for William "Shep" McHenry

William “Shep” McHenry, 70, of Ocean Township died Saturday, March 11, 2017. He grew up in Rumson and graduated from Rumson-Fair Haven High School. He attended the Coast Guard Academy for 3 years, then graduated from Rutgers University. He was a military policeman in the US Army.
He was an insurance agent for Equitable Insurance Company and later worked at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport before retiring.
Shep lived in Monmouth Beach for 27 years before moving to Rolling Meadows in Ocean Township in 2013. He loved to play duplicate bridge. He was also an avid sports fan, golfer and athlete when he was young.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Lucassen McHenry; 2 children, Andrew S. McHenry and Stacey and her husband Lee Gartstein; 3 grandchildren, Jack, Landyn and Sawyer Gartstein; his brother, Keith and his wife Brenda McHenry
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 10 am until the start of the service at 11:30 am Friday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport. For condolences, please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com.
