Obituary for Howard M. Stevens

Howard M. Stevens, 82 of Toms River, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and dog Tyler on June 7, 2018.
He was born in Long Branch, New Jersey, lived in Rumson and Oakhurst before retiring to Green Valley, Arizona, returning recently to New Jersey. Howard worked as a cable splicer for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company for over thirty-five years, where he made many lifelong friends. He was a member of the New Jersey Bell Pioneers and the Pleasure Bay Ice Boat Club. Howard was an avid sports man who enjoyed ice boating, skiing, skating, duck hunting and fishing. During his retirement he liked to garden and travel and spoke often of his time spent exploring many national parks. He was known to all as a gentle, kind and generous soul.
He was predeceased by his parents Alice and Cyril Stevens, his brothers, Cyril and Richard and wife, Ann.
Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Joan Stevens, his loving children Monica Greco, Alison Stevens, Kevin Stevens and his wife Christine, Robin Cervantes and her husband Cris and their mother, Mary Jonasson. HePop will be sorely missed by his grandchildren Anthony and Michael Greco, Ashley Stevens-McParland and her husband Michael, Brandon, Lindsey and Brian Stevens, Alex and Marc Cervantes. He is also survived by his step-children, James Rafferty, Tammy Consiglio and her daughter Laina, also many nieces and nephews.
At Howard’s request internment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the ASPCA.
