Obituary for Claude Lee Jones III

Claude Lee Jones, affectionately known as "Poochie" was born to the late Claude and Thomasina House - Jones. He departed this life on May 9, 2018 in Perth Amboy, NJ after a brief illness at the age of 71. Claude was a life-long resident of Monmouth County, NJ. He received his formal education in the Asbury Park School District and attended St. Stephen AME Zion church throughout his childhood. Upon completion of High School, Claude enlisted in the U.S. Army; where he served from 1965 - 1969. During his enlistment, Claude served in the Vietnam War. Claude was an active member of the American Legion Post 266 and V.F.W. Post 2639 both of Neptune, New Jersey. Claude retired from Earle Naval Weapon Station Colts Neck, NJ in 2006 after working for over 30 years.

Claude was a loving father, grandfather, brother, nephew, and uncle. He adored his grandchildren more than life itself, and was a generous "Pop-Pop". Claude loved family gathering at Aunt Ora Lee's; where he could be found cracking jokes and having a good ole' time. His hobbies included: fishing, working on cars, and his gadgets and he loved all types of music.

Claude Lee Jones was predeceased by his son Claude Jones, IV and his late wife Mrs. Nellar Smith - Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory: One Aunt, Mrs. Ora Lee Harris (Neptune, NJ), Two daughters: Ms. Charisse Jones (Red Bank, NJ) and Ms. Tiffany Jones (Asbury Park, NJ), Three Sisters: Mrs. Claudette Jones-Everett (Asbury Park, NJ) Mrs. Tier Jones-Ariza (Florida) Ms. Dorothy Hinton (North Carolina), Three Brothers: Mr. Lenard C. Clark, II (Neptune, NJ) and Mr. William Barton, Jr. (Fredrick, MD), and Mr. Larry Hinton (North Carolina), Five Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
