Aurea Maria Rivera, 88, of Long Branch, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018.
Aurea was born on March 25, 1929 in Puerto Rico and came here in the early 1950s, living in Long Branch for the past 20 years.
She pursued many professions, and was always focused on helping others. She was a pillar of her church community, the Spanish Assembly of God Church in Long Branch, where she served as a deacon and educator of the children’s ministry as well as a coordinator of events and kitchen ministry.
Aurea was predeceased by her father, Juan M. Rivera; her mother, Maria Julia Quiles; sister, Anita Rivera; and brothers, Francisco and Andes Rivera.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Alicia DeFelice (Nino) and Mary Rivera, and brother, Eddie Rivera, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
