Obituary for Charles E. Schulz

Charles E. Schulz, 80, a lifelong resident of Monmouth Beach, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.
He was born in Long Branch on February 26, 1937 at Hazard Hospital.
Charlie retired from the Mason’s Local #5, Bricklayer’s & Allied Craftsmen Union in 1999 after 44 years.
He was a charter member, past captain, president and treasurer of the Monmouth Beach First Aid Squad. He was a life member, Ex-Chief (1965) and past treasurer of the Monmouth Beach Fire Company. He served as a treasurer over 20 years for the Monmouth Beach Firemen’s Relief Association. Charlie served on the Board of Fire Directors for the Monmouth County Fire Academy for over 20 years. He was a life member of the Monmouth County Firemen’s Association and the Monmouth County Fire Chief’s Association. He served on the registration committee for the NJ State Firemen’s Association for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Monmouth Beach Historical Society and the Asbury United Methodist Church in Long Branch for over 50 years. He was a graduate of Long Branch High School in 1955. Charlie enjoyed sailing, ice boating and square dancing.

Charlie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles G. and Martha Schulz and brother and sister-in-law, John and Joan Schulz.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Agnes (Cookie) M. Hulick Schulz; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Marra (Bob) and Cathy Blessing (Jim); 2 grandchildren, Maggie and Kristie Marra; sister and brother-in-law Martha Lane (George); nephews, Tim and Tom Lane (JoJo), John A. Schulz (Kelly); niece, Debby Mantell (Marty); great-nephews, Matt and Drew Schulz, John Miles Mantell and Zack Lane and great-nieces, Melissa Mantell and Connor Lane.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 12 noon to 4 pm Sunday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral service will be held at 10 am Monday at the funeral home followed by burial at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Monmouth Beach Fire Company or to the Monmouth Beach First Aid Squad, Beach Road, Monmouth Beach, NJ 07750.
