The PPBHS class of ‘62 has had a long and admired relationship with Coach Farrell and he will be missed by many. Our hearts go out to his entire family.

Mr. Farrell was my freshman football coach at Raritan High School in the 1965-66 season. I was 14 years old then and am 66 now. It seems like only yesterday when he made us laugh while teaching us to play football.

He was my favorite coach and a heck of a human being! He touched many lives with his Big Boisterous sense of humor and his huge heart!

I never met anyone who didn’t think the world of Francis L. Farrell!

Rest In Peace coach!

My heartfelt condolences truly go out to your family. I attended Raritan High from 1972-1977. My Farrell had such a profound impact on me and I can say it truly saved my life. I’m saddened I never had the chance to tell him so. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Every time I think of Mr. Farrell, I have to smile. He was my Driver's Ed teacher in 1967. And boy, was I a challenge. I think he stepped on his brake on the passenger side more than I ever stepped on mine. He used to call me "Patsy." When I veered over to the left side of the street in Keyport, he told me, "This is fine for England, Patsy, fine for England." When I almost clipped an 80-something pedestrian who decided to cross the street between two parked cars, Mr. Farrell tapped on his brake and said, "Hey, Patsy, whadaya say we let the old-timer live?" If his hair turned gray before its time, I'm sure it was because of me. At the end of the course, he told me I'd receive my "FTW" card--Farrell's Trained Women." RIP, Mr. Farrell. I turned out to be a pretty good driver because of you. And you'll be happy to know I still keep my hands at 10:00 and 2:00.

Coach Farrell was a driving spirit behind the Point Pleasant Beach HS football teams in the early 1960s, changing the lives and attitude of both team members and the students in the high school. He generated pride, individually and collectively. For years he honored the class of 1962 by attending reunions, and the class, in turn, honored him for his inspiration. He will be missed by many. Time does not dim true connections, and he had a strong connection to a huge number of students in my HS class.

Dear Farrell's,

I am sad that we lost Frank. When Meghan married my
Brother he adopted us as if we were his own.
What an amazing man. We will always be grateful for having known him and spending bbqs and holidays with him.
I just wish we knew him longer.
We are here for you Pat and Meg. Love you very much.
