Ioannis G. Christopoulos, 80, of Neptune, NJ, died Wednesday evening, December 13, 2017 of natural causes. Son of the late Very Rev. Archimandrite George Christopoulos and the late Presbytera Stavroula Christopoulos, he was born in Pyrgos and raised in Athens, Greece before he emigrated to the United States in 1970. Employed as a street vendor in New York City for over 30 years and resided in New Jersey for 44 years. He was a lifelong fan of AEK F.C. and a loving grandfather ("Papou") that adored his two grandchildren. He served in the Royal Hellenic Army with an honorable discharge at the rank of Sargent. He is predeceased by his loving wife Anna, his parents and his brothers Nick G. Christopoulos, M.D. and Milton G. Christopoulos. He is survived by his son George Christopoulos, Esq.; daughter-in-law Ellainy; grandchildren Anna and James; his two sisters Maria G. Dimitropoulos and Ioanna G. Christopoulos as well as his nephews/nieces George N. Christopoulos, M.D.; Stavroula N. Christopoulos; Martsellianna N. Christopoulos; Argyro N. Christopoulos; Gus I. Dimitropoulos; George I. Dimitropoulos; Stavroula M. Christopoulos and Esther M. Christopoulos. Funeral service is at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 16 at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church Cemetery in Neptune, NJ.
