Obituary for Stuyvesant Hiller

Stuyvesant Hiller, 93, a lifelong resident of Oakhurst, died at home on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
He worked at Fort Monmouth for over 33 years as a supervisor of the motor pool before retiring.
He was an Army veteran of WW II and served in the ETO in 5 companies, including the D-Day invasion on Utah Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, the Jersey Coast Radio Control Club, the Jersey Coast Sport Flyers Club, the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the American Legion Post # 346 in Neptune, the Navesink Lodge #9 F&AM and a life member and past president of the Monmouth Shore Points Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, camping and speed skating.
He was predeceased by his parents, Max and Josephine Hiller; his son, Bruce Hiller; brother, Montrose Hiller and sister, Veronica Lachenauer.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Evelyn; 2 daughters, Sharon Rogers and Wendy and her husband Stan Szymczak and 4 grandchildren, Alexander and Benjamin Shaffer and Evan and Blaire Szymczak and a great grandson due in 2 weeks.
Visitation is from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Friday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral service at 10 am Saturday at the funeral home followed by entombment at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to donor’s favorite charity.
