Obituary for Helen Lelecas Psyras

Helen Lelecas Psyras (May 13, 1929 – July 7, 2017) of Colts Neck, New Jersey, passed away peacefully with the love and support of her family. Helen was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and wife. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts to parents, Mitza and Diomedes Lelecas on May 13, 1929. She grew up in Brighton, Massachusetts. She graduated from Girls’ Latin School, Boston; Simmons College, Boston, in 1950 with a degree in Business Management and furthered her studies in Education at Boston University; worked and taught as the first Department Head of Business for Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in Massachusetts and later, as a sales manager for Dunn & Bradstreet in New Jersey. She and her husband, Cy, raised their two daughters in Berkeley Heights New Jersey, before moving to Edison and Brick, New Jersey for retirement, and later to Shrewsbury and Colts Neck at Brandywine Senior Living. She loved and dedicated herself to her family, was a loyal friend, read several historical novels per week, and volunteered for decades supporting fund raising efforts for Deborah Hospital.
She is forever loved and will be greatly missed by her surviving family: husband, Hippocrates (Cy); daughter Diana Psyras and son-in-law Jim Ward; daughter Stephanie Parlamas, son-in-law Markos Parlamas and grandsons George & Steven; and her brother Peter Lelecas, sister-in-law, Theodora Lelecas, and nephews, Michael and Nicholas and their families in Oklahoma.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 5-8 pm Sunday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral service will be held at 10 am Monday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Ocean Township. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel.
