Obituary for Jane H. Mastrangelo

Jane H. Mastrangelo (nee: Szaro) age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, Jane’s career spanned several occupations which included district manager for Avon, a keypunch operator, the proprietor of two novelty shops, and a domestic for Stanley Dancer. In her retirement, Jane served as a board member for her residence’s Unity Club and always enjoyed the club’s many social events and trips to Atlantic City. Jane faced the many challenges in her life with determination, perseverance, humor, love, courage and faith. She will be remembered for her creativity, keen wit, and unmatched love of bingo.

Jane was predeceased by her parents, Katherine and Matthew Szaro, her siblings Dr. Stephen E. Szaro, Adolf (Rudy) Szaro, Chester Szaro, and Jean (Szaro) Maceiko. She is survived by her son Louis Dall’ava, son Michael Mastrangelo and his wife Paula, daughter Michele Mastrangelo and her boyfriend Douglas Banta (Jane’s “Auggie”), grandson Evan Dubil, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dearest lifelong friend Evelyn Carey, sister-in-law Norma Szaro and cousin Helen Warzecha.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, N.J. An additional visitation will be held on Saturday morning, May 13, at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, Bayonne from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A funeral mass in Jane’s honor will be offered at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J.

Donations in Jane’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s
Disease Foundation.
