Joseph A.  Romanowski, USAFR
Joseph Andrew Romanowski, 82, of Oakhurst, Ocean Twp, died Friday, January 20, 2017. He was born and raised in Nanticoke, Pa, graduated from Shickshinny High School and enlisted in The United States Air Force in 1954 retiring as Chief Master Sergeant in 1983. He served as Chief Master Sergeant to the 913th Tactical Airlift Group from 1959 to 1983. His career continued at Fort Monmouth and Cecom in a civilian capacity for the U.S. Dept. of Defense until 1997. He married Frances Theresa Panisiewicz on August 22nd, 1959. He lived and raised 5 sons with his wife in Willow Grove and Pipersville, Pa until 1983 before moving to NJ where he lived in Tinton Falls and in Oakhurst with his loving wife of 57 yrs. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 45 yrs as a 3rd Degree Member of the Red Bank Council, NJ. He was a communicant of St. Anselm’s Roman Catholic Church in Wayside, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Frances in November 2016; his son, Joseph, his parents; Joseph Richard, Josephine Dorothy Romanowski, his sister Bernadine Shoemaker. Surviving are his 4 sons, Michael and his wife Lisa, Theodore and his wife Elizabeth, Stephen and Thomas Romanowski; daughter-in-law, Maggie Lubcke and her daughter Jennifer; brother-in-law, Charles Panisiewicz and his wife Sara Hermansky; 13 grandchildren, Racheal and her husband Doug, Hunter, Courtney, Theodore, Gabrielle, Joseph, Mary, Caroline, Stefan, Zachary, Danielle, Nicholas, Sierra. Two great-grandchildren, Douglas and Olivia. Two Sisters; Dorothy Grommiak and Carol Gorgan. 15 Nieces and Nephews; David, Kim, Gary, Shey, Danny, Lisa, Marcus, Joe, Jim, Albert II, Greg, Michelle, Debbie, Pamella and Krystina and Waldek Lesniewski . He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and Uncle; he leaves many friends also to cherish his memory.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Wednesday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral Mass 11 am Thursday at St. Anselm’s Church in Wayside followed by burial at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown.
