Obituary for Veronica "Roni" Romano

Veronica Romano, 69, of Elberon, died Friday, September 16, 2016.
She was born in Jersey City and lived in Jersey City, Glen Ridge and Red Bank before moving to Long Branch five years ago to care for her aging parents. She also maintained a home in Ocean View, Delaware.
Roni graduated from Dickinson High School in Jersey City and New Jersey State University (NJSU). She received a master’s degree in education from Montclair State University. She was certified in Special Education and as a Learning Disabilities Teaching Consultant. Among her teaching assignments were the Hudson County Schools of Technology. She was a member of the NJEA.
She was a communicant of St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church in West Long Branch.
Roni was predeceased by her parents, James and Carmen Romano, also of Long Branch.
Surviving are her brother, Colonel James A. Romano, Jr. (US Army retired) and his wife Candy Grimes Romano of Ocean View, DE; two nieces and a nephew, Candace and her husband Todd Hickman, Alicia and her husband Frank Kalthof and her nephew James A. Romano III, 4 great nephews and a great niece, Ethan and Will Hickman and Kieran, Cooper and Mackenna Carmen Kalthof.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 & 7-9 pm Wednesday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 am Thursday at St. Jerome’s Church in West Long Branch. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport.
