Obituary for Edith Egan

Edith Egan, 98, of Oakhurst, Ocean Township, died on Saturday, July 30, 2016. She was born in Newberry, SC and lived in Long Branch for 45 years before moving to Ocean 35 years ago.
She became an LPN at Hazard Hospital in Long Branch, working in the maternity ward, and in later years worked at Westwood Hall Nursing Home, also Long Branch.
She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star #198, the ladies auxiliary of the VFW #2140 and the Elks #742 all in Long Branch.
She was predeceased by her husband, George H. and her son, Kevin Egan both in 2007; her parents, Frank and Mamie Jones; 4 brothers and 2 sisters and 3 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jillian and Madelyn Labrecque.
Surviving are her daughter, Dale and her husband Bill Budd of Oakhurst; daughter-in-law, Lorrene Egan of Port St. Lucie, FL; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly and Daniel Maguire, Michelle and Scott Labrecque, Brian and Jennifer Budd, Lauren and Patrick O’Shea and Daniel Egan and 4 great-grandchildren, Daniel and Lindsey Maguire and Jason and Braden Labrecque; many nieces and nephews and close and dearest friends, Jim and Sarah May Murray. There will be no visitation and cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to SCID, Angels for Life, 6923 Lacey Drive, Lakeland, FL 33813 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
