Obituary for John L. Klenk

John L.  Klenk
John L. Klenk, 88, of Ocean Township, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at home.
He was born Belding, Michigan and lived in Boston, Alexandria, VA, Honolulu, HI and Camp Springs, MD before moving to Ocean in 1988.
He retired in 1973 from the US Coast Guard as a Commander after 22 years. He graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy in 1951. He received a Masters degree from MIT and the American University. After his retirement from the military, he was a systems analyst at Mitre Corporation in Eatontown before retiring.
He was a communicant, lector and volunteer on the buildings and grounds committee at St. Anselm’s Roman Catholic Church in Wayside. He was also a member of the IRE before it became the IEEE. He was an expert French toast maker.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Florence Klenk.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Nancy; 5 children, Stephen and his wife Carole Klenk of CA, Thomas and his wife Deborah Klenk of Elkton, MD, Andrew Klenk of Waldorf, MD, Mark and his wife Christina Klenk of Waldorf, MD and Carolyn Klenk Grove of Ocean; brother, James Klenk and sister, Mary Reetz; 11 grandchildren, Jonathan, Shane, Jessica Lee, Brian, John, Sarah, Patrick, Ryan, Zachary, Matthew and Rachel and 4 great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Henry, Lillian Nancy, Molly and one on the way.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at 11 am on Saturday at St. Anselm’s Church, 1028 Wayside Road, Wayside. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Anselm’s Church. For condolences, please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com.
